On Saturday, November 11, 2023, Rotary Club Lebanon Eco organized the “Permaculture Educational Session” in collaboration with Michel Daher Social Foundation @daherfoundation. Permaculture is the way to sustainable agriculture.
In the first part, Dr. Jamil Mourad explored the world of Permaculture, which involves thoughtful land management and settlement design, drawing inspiration from the harmonious arrangement of plants and trees found in thriving natural #ecosystems. He delved into the concept of companion planting, the strategic use of weeds, and aromatic plants to naturally combat insect and disease infections. He also shed light on techniques to enhance soil fertility and health, emphasizing practices like mulching, green cover, and the beneficial use of certain weeds.
The second part, led by Mr. Mohamad Ghalayini, unfolded the mysteries of soil tests and the art of composting. Understanding the role of composting in nurturing soil health and encouraging beneficial microorganisms was enlightening.
